i know this is not what you asked for , just wanted to say that there are putty forks or hacks to make it save settings to a file instead of the win registry, for portability reasons

Not as easy to use as putty, but as a one stop shop for Linux tool chain in Windows and a terminal emulator for SSH this software is hard to beat.
