The headline seems like a bit of click-bait, as it doesn’t seem to be so bad as to be a deal-breaker. Basically the Raspberry Pi devs tried to save a resistor and ended up breaking the ability to charge the Pi 4 with a ‘smart charger’. The charger included with the device works just fine, as well as many common non-‘smart’ chargers.
